SUMMARY:Volunteers Needed: Wal-Mart Distribution Center Food Pickup
DESCRIPTION:In the morning at 9AM staff and volunteers will meet at the Walmart Distribution Center’s employee parking lot\, near the HVAC system to load up on food. \nWhile there we pre-sort a few brands: Special Kitty\, Meow Mix\, Ol’ Roy\, and Gravy Train. At least one volunteer brings those brands to the New Braunfels Food Bank for use. Other brands come back to the shelter for our use and to redistribute to other shelters\, food banks\, rescues\, and people in need. \n  \nAny size vehicle or volunteer is able to help! The more hands the smaller the burden on each.

SUMMARY:Kennel Comforters Sewing Group
DESCRIPTION:The New Braunfels Public Library is hosting a monthly sewing time for Kennel Comforters on the 4th Friday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Kennel Comforters use donated materials to create beds for cats and dogs at the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area. \n“We heard about a group of volunteers sewing beds for the animal shelter and decided this would be a great\nopportunity to support the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area.\,” commented Toni Davenport\, Adult Services Librarian. “These beds not only provide comfort while the animals are in the shelter\, but when they go home with their new families\, the pets keep the bed for their new lifelong homes as well.” \n“If you have a sewing machine\, you can bring it to help sew. If you don’t have a sewing machine\, the volunteers can still use your help preparing materials for the beds. No need to sign up – just show up\,” Davenport said. \nThis program is free\, open to the public and no registration is necessary. Many library programs are made\npossible with the support of The Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library.\nFor more information about the program\, please call the library at 830-221-4300.
